Before I explain the boring language of lashes (well I don’t think it is boring), let me give you a little background of why lashes ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ON YOUR FACE! (Ok fine, brow people will argue with me and I don’t have a good argument for them, but read on!)
I began wearing lashes when I was 18. Once, a girl made fun of how small my eyes were so I googled how to make my eyes look bigger. That is how I discovered eye shapes, hooded eyelids, tear duct shapes etc. A lot of people don’t realize how the placement of lash length, curl and thickness can enhance or change the shake of your natural eye. Of course, some of my LaLa Lasher’s just want big lashes, and that is ok too!
PSA: INDIVIDUAL LASH EXTENSIONS ARE NOT CLUSTERS!!!
The ones you buy at Kroger, Wal-mart or Ulta for $5-$10 or the ones that are applied at a salon for $30-$50. These are CLUSTERS (people like to claim they are individual… eye roll). They are not good for longterm wear because as your lashes grow, the glue causes your lashes to be stuck together and snap. I call this “Lash Rehab”. We have to wait until your lashes start to grow in order for me to to glue on LaLa Lashes. Lucky for you, lashes do grow back if there isn’t too much permanent damage AND I am a retailer for Grande Lash Growth Serum!
Individual Lashes are either Mink, or some other form of material that is glued onto each individual lash. The synthetic lash grows out with your natural lash and either falls off on its own or with the lash. LaLa Lash uses Synthetic Mink, it is soft, shiny and comes in many different curls, thicknesses and lengths. I have had clients tell me that their previous lash artist put real mink lashes on them, but it was a lie. Granted, this does not happen often, but more than once is enough for me to inform you about the truth. How to tell? Besides how they actually look, if someone is charging you less than $200 for a classic set of lashes (see my Lash page for information on different lash styles) then they are NOT mink. Mink lashes ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE. I do not offer them, however I can get them, but be advised that they cost more and are better for people that want an extremely natural look that does not hold curl as well. Personally, animal fur on my face, no thanks.
Curls?? C Curl? D Curl? What language is this? I’m here to fill you in! Yes, curls completely change the look of the lashes, and there is no wrong or right curl for you. The fun part is we can change your look every month! I typically use C or D curl. Sometime’s an L+ curl. But I am still speaking in a foreign language so how about I just SHOW YOU:
No I did not create this chart so sorry to whoever did! But this makes it very to easy to see the differences. Now, the thicknesses just apply to different techniques so don’t necessarily worry about those.
I hope this entry was helpful! I am worried it is a little boring but maybe it has helped you understand lash extensions and curls! We carry a lot of curls lengths, but like I said, mostly C and D. So, if you are curious about another curl type feel free to email us email@example.com before your appointment. Depending on the look you are going for, we may be able to accommodate you!
I once had an interview with a local magazine and they asked me “What interested you in lashes?”. I then told them the story about the high school girls who made fun of my eyes, but I BARELY mentioned it. The article was released a couple of weeks later with the title, “LT has her High School bullies to thank for her successful business!” I was mortified, do they know my high school is only 10 miles away and most of these people still live here?? OMG! So dear “high school bullies” don’t worry, I forgive you! Haha
